The Church in Wellington BRIEF HISTORY

In October of 1973 a small number of believers from different parts of the country moved to Wellington to begin meeting as the church there. By so doing, these believers sought to establish a testimony to the oneness of the Body of Christ in this city, and to begin to practice a church life apart from all denominational names, practices and traditions.

During the ensuing years, even after some of the original number moved to other places, the church slowly began to grow. In February 1978 several families migrated from North Shore City, and they further strengthened and the supported the church.

Throughout the years the church has continued to grow under the Lord's blessing. Apart from trainings and special conferences for the ministry of the Word, we have avoided meetings where only one man speaks. Rather, we enjoy a rich church life where every member is honored and loved by all. Every member is encouraged to share and testify so that the Body can build itself up in love.

In 1989 the church purchased a large house on The Terrace in central Wellington, which was remodeled in order for use as a meeting place and also to accommodate young people attending university.

Today the church is continuing to enjoy the Lord's rich blessing with all of the dear members growing in His life day by day and enjoying a universal fellowship in the Body of Christ with all the local churches throughout the earth.
